Welcome to my website

.

I am Iris, an Industrial and Material Designer. I aspire to connect people and nature through design. I use my background in Industrial Design (TU/e) and fascination for materials to solve contemporary challenges. I immerse myself in a subject matter, connect old learnings with new information and I do a lot of design explorations, resulting in innovative concepts. Collaboration with experts, scientists, fellow designers and companies, but also with organisms (bio design) or machines (digital fabrication) is a key aspect of my work.

Future Plans

My bachelor Industrial Design has been an incredible learning experience where I have developed in so many ways. I have learned what kind of designer I want to become and I feel motivated to learn so much more. In September I will start my master in Industrial Design at the Technical University of Eindhoven. While I have learned to work on challenges that perfectly fit my vision I am eager to work on challenges proposed by clients, and to see how I can my methods and vision inside these challenges. During and after my master I want to work on a startup and I want to start my own design studio. The startup continues on my graduation project. Even if this does not work out, I want to build my own company or design studio. Together with Danielle Ooms, I am organizing a symposium, the MicroMacroMaterial symposium, which will take place around next February. This symposium fits with my identity and evolves around the topic of going from a material experiment to a product, service or system. After my master, I want to work as a freelance designer and have my own design studio. I am already part of the Young Talent Team of Yksi Expo, which will help me accelerate my career since this team is a good platform for connections with companies and exhibition possiblities. The team is lead by Leonne Cuppen, who has an established reputation in the sustainable design world.
